Up for your consideration is a set of 7 reproduction M1 carbine 50 round ammunition boxes, with WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS COMPANY (WRA), LAKE CITY ORDNANCE PLANT (LC), KINGS MILLS ORDNANCE PLANT (PC), REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY (R.A.), WESTERN CARTRIDGE COMPANY (W.C.C.), EVANSVILLE ORDNANCE PLANT (E.C.), and FRANKFORD ARSENAL (F.A.) labels.
Development of the .30 carbine round was started in late 1940 by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company under an Ordnance Department contract. By late 1941, with war on the horizon, additional contracts were given to Western Cartridge Company and Remington Arms Company, while continual refinement of the design was carried out by Frankford Arsenal. During this same period the Ordnance Department was beginning the small arms ammunition plant expansion program due to the limited capacity of Frankford Arsenal and the commercial manufacturers. The Lake City Ordnance Plant was in operation by September 1941, with the first production of carbine rounds by November 1942. By mid-1942, the Evansville Ordnance Plant was completed and producing finished carbine rounds by January 1943, although the bulk of Evansville's capacity was devoted to .45 caliber production. The Evansville plant was later responsible for the development of the small arms ammunition "spam can" used for long-term storage, and resulted in many of the boxes getting the "Repacked E.C." red stamp as part of the process. The Kings Mills Ordnance Plant produced carbine ammunition under the Peters Cartridge Company name as part of the commercial contract given to Remington Arms during the war. Frankford Arsenal did developmental work on the carbine cartridge throughout the war, and finally went into mass production of that round by late 1944.
Each "Buy It Now" single purchase is for 6 unassembled cartons with one each of an early "WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS" label, early "LAKE CITY ORDNANCE PLANT" label, mid-war "KINGS MILLS ORDNANCE PLANT" label, late-war "REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY" label, early "WESTERN CARTRIDGE COMPANY" label and mid-war "EVANSVILLE ORDNANCE PLANT" label, and late-war "FRANKFORD ARSENAL" label. The lot number is hand stamped on the lid prior to shipping, either matching my original boxes, or if you prefer, I can match the lot number of a spam can or crate that you may have. I can also add the repack overstamp that is commonly found on original boxes, as shown in the photos, with any date requested. The cartons will be shipped flat, with assembly instructions, and the shipping is free within the U.S. I had a lot of these made, so if you want multiple sets, just change the auction quantity before you click on the "Buy It Now" button.
Check my feedback and buy with confidence. I prefer paypal and shipping within the U.S. is free. I will ship internationally, but there will be extra shipping charges involved. Those extra charges MUST be paid by the buyer, and will be added by eBay during the checkout process. I will also combine shipping for multiple items if you ask. Payment is expected within 3 days of auction close. Returns are accepted within 14 days, but buyer must pay return shipping. If you have a lot number preference, overstamp preference, or label preference, or want all the same label, please send details to me via the paypal checkout instructions, or send me a separate email.
I also have separate "Buy It Now" listings for M1 Carbine cartons (set "A" and "B"), M1911 .45 ACP cartons (50 round set "A" and "B" and 20 round), 12 GA cartons, .30 caliber Ball cartons (9 different plants), .30 caliber Armor Piercing cartons (7 different plants), .30 caliber Tracer cartons (4 different plants), .30 caliber Incendiary cartons (3 different plants), .30 caliber Frangible cartons (2 different plants), .30 caliber Rifle Grenade cartons, .30 caliber Bandoleer Lot Cards, .30 caliber Repacked Lot Data Cards (for belted ammo), and two .30 caliber mixed carton display sets. All of these listings can be viewed by clicking on the "See other items" link located just below my seller info. at the top of this listing.
Thanks for looking and I appreciate your business.
*NOTE TO EBAY - THESE BOXES ARE EMPTY AND DO NOT CONTAIN ANY RESTRICTED AMMUNITION COMPONENTS*
.
